The South Wigston Neighbourhood Team visited Blaby Road Park today alongside colleagues from Oadby & Wigston Borough Council to discuss ongoing ASB issues and the steps we’re taking to tackle them. We have already invested in HD CCTV cameras, and the Police and Crime Commissioner has provided new signage. Today’s discussion focused on what additional preventative measures could help reduce unauthorised vehicular access to the park — without restricting legitimate use for families, dog walkers, and the wider community. Vehicles used on the park without permission will be seized, and riders/drivers will face prosecution. While we continue to enforce at every opportunity, we are bound by operational demand, and those who chose to ride illegal motorcycles generally do not stop for police and have no issues in putting more people at risk, which is why preventative measures like those discussed today are so important. Together with OWBC, we remain committed to keeping public spaces safe for everyone. Bit by bit we continue to challenge those who cause harm or choose to ignore the law, and seize and destroy illegal and dangerous vehicles. Please continue to report any incidents of vehicles being used on Blaby Road Park. Although we may not catch them in the act, every report, photograph or video helps us build intelligence, which directly leads to vehicle seizures and prosecutions down the line. Your information genuinely makes a difference. PCSO Dom PC Reece
